Ok, this is probably a stupid question, but how do you get to the radio stations on winamp? I was shown a few years ago, but for the life of me, I can't remember.
Thanks,

Jen

Do you mean in winamp there is a list of radio stations we can listen? I didn't know that. The only thing i know is to press control+L and this will open the url window and we can enter a url for a station and press enter. After that the station will start playing. If we entered a station in this box in the past winamp remembers it and we can choose one by pressing the down arrow. This is what i know about it.

I haven't done it for a long time, and I swear, I can never find radio stations the same way twice, so I won't be much help here. But I do remember you have to hit alt L and then find shoutcast. I used to be able to find a list of music genres, and then once you select what type of music you want you right arrow to a list of stations that play that type of music and then right arrow to play. Hope this is somewhat helpful.

You do it in the library with alt l (as Becky said), somewhere in there there is a listing for radio stations. Unfortunately, there are some treacherous spots along the way.

The library doesn't lend itself to feeling around with the cursor, and there are some places like dashboard that get activated when you touch them with the mouse.

When you do find a radio station you like, you can bookmark it with ctrl+i.

Here is a site that gives you a good number of commercial stations.

check it out.

exactly; i use that site lots. I also have a question and since this topic concerns the same... you know how some stations do not display the tiels? I ahve tried going to the station's site and such for the tile that is currently playing (since i like to exploreother genres) and this happen shwne i am in the middle of loving a song... i know you can access the station's info window by hitting alt plus b but there is nothing that jaws reads. Also, file info (alt plus three) does not work at all... so, is there any way to find out the song titles when they are not displayed in winamp's title bar?

This is one of the reasons I haven't bothered upgrading to winamp 5.x. I still use winamp 2.91, and the library works wonderfully. Why bother upgrading?

I've just upgraded today to winamp 5.52.

ok I don't know how old these messages are because I'm still at the beginning where the person asked about winamp radio stations. I don't have winamp but there is a winamp library inside it. I'm not sure if your speech thing is good for getting around it or not but I'll give you a short cut to get to some of those. Try www.shoutcast.com. I use to get on that website a lot and listen to stations. You go in to the search box and type in what you're trying to find. What do you want? Country, eighty's stuff, ninety's, rock, rap, old school, rave, techno. Put it in and you'll find all kinds of results. Now admittedly I haven't played with this stuff since now that I use my work computer I don't have anything for audio so it's pointless but on my own PC back in Detroit I used to listen to all kinds of crap. As a heads up I'll tell you that these stations change a lot. Something came out last year about it. Something to do with copy right infringements and that there's going to be a charge for a lot of internet radio stuff so stations come and go now. You might find one you really like and it'll be gone sooner or later. Also the later version of winamp as I understand don't support the library or have limited access to it. You might look in to that to see if what I say is so. Anyways I guess I read on and see what other shit's been posted.

what? thats crazy. My "speech thing" obviously vaguely cooperates with winamp's library. I use the later winamp because i love the hotkeys feature and all the added 1000000 filetypes. I also like the nullsoft disk writer plug-in that enables you to record any audio to many types of file formats. So if you want to rip a cd you can make winamp do it. if you want to convert a dvd to mp3 or wave (for higher quality) let winamp do it. If you want to record and audio stream from a radio station.. let winamp do it too, I guess. Finally, control plus L is the shorcut that opens locations and stores a list of recent URLS.

or just bookmark so you can return to it later.

yup. Another interesting thing of winamp is that you just copy the C. Colon backslash program files backslash winammp directory to a thumb drive or jsut choose the thumb drive's letter as the location for installing and you can take winamp anywhere with you. Even if the registry is locked you can set up global shortcuts for winamp.
